In January of 1990, Ron Bailey, along with his parents, Ruth and Coy, started a small used furniture store, A-1 Discount Furniture, on Tudor Road. Nine months later, they moved into the old Anchorage Roller Rink at Arctic and Benson, where they began selling new furniture. This new store was 20,000 square feet, and their selection grew. In July of 1993, A-1 Discount Furniture became Bailey’s Furniture; a new partner, Mike Bailey, was added, along with a new store in Wasilla. 1993 was also the year of their first television commercial, debuting 7-year-old Buddy Bailey.
